The commitment of Nissan motor-sports is continuing and growing! Today as the automaker announced it would partner with NASA , not that one; this is the National Auto Sport Association also known as NASA Pro Racing, to support a new spec racing series devoted to the popular Nissan 350Z.

For the past decade or so, the 350Z and its successor, the 370Z, have offered mainstream buyers with a regular budget in many markets around the world the opportunity to own a fine-tuned and powerful rear-wheel drive sports car without breaking the bank.

Less than 24 hours before the grand opening of the 2012 edition of the Chicago Auto Show and Nissan has lifted the covers off its mildly updated 370Z sports car that goes on sale in the U.S. next June as a 2013 model.

Nissan is partnering with the National Auto Sport Association to create an all new Spec Z Series that promises low costs and performance parity.

"NASA has a proven track record of growing classes from the ground up, so we are excited to be working with NASA on the new Spec Z series," said Ron Stukenberg, Senior Manager, Motorsports Marketing Communications, Nissan North America, in a press release.

We received word today than Nissan will debut a "revised" version of its 370Z sports car series at the upcoming 2012 Chicago Auto Show via an invitation to a press event that will take place next Thursday.
