Which model would you kill, the Dodge Nitro or Jeep Liberty?

The fat trimming is apparently continuing at Chrysler. In three years, expect the Jeep Liberty and its closely related sibling, the Dodge Nitro, to merge into one model, according to Steven Landry, Chrysler's ...

Nitro is already dead so you might as well go all the way with the burial. I wish the good ole Jeep Cherokee would come back. So far my favorite of all the Jeeps we've had.

I like the Nitos looks better. At least the decked out ones. There are just too many jeeps models competing with each other.

Here in Norway the sale of the Jeep Commander is good, but the Nitro sale in Europe sucks! Kill the Nitro.

My wife drives a Nitro for work, it's OK (besides the gas guzzling, but it IS an SUV, got to expect that) but nothing to rave about. It's sharp to look at from the outside (truck look in the front with some flare, jeep look in the back, like a paddy wagon) but inside?? JUNK with a capital J. There's more plastic in that thing than a tonka toy. Sure, as always, Chrysler cheaps out on the interior for the engine. Our chevy car is luxury compared to this and it's 6 years older, got spoiled with GM, with EVERYTHING auto - going back to manual lights & seats is a downgrade!!) Mind you, it gets up & hauls ass, but that's the only thing it's got going for it. No wonder the lease is only $200/mth.

It should be a no-brainer. The Jeep Liberty in an established vehicle, I have had 3 and a Cherokee before that. The Nitro is just an extra vehicle for Dodge and should be the one cut.

Boy this is a tuff call! Id say keep the ram pickup,Chrysler town & country only, & the jeep brand wrangler & 4door. Get rid of everything else & build your self up from there.

We love our Jeep Liberty. 2003 Renegade w/ about 55K problem free miles.

I prefer the previous liberty models look over the new ones though.

Love my Nitro, but ya so much plastic it makes barbie look real. never really liked the Liberty much at all still even with the new design it stinks. Really if you wanna kill a vehicle it should be the Sebring sedan.IMOA.

6 of one - half dozen of the other. They could toos both of 'em. But the Nitro is nicer looking and more driver friendly.

This is what should be shuffled. Nitro (a fad) didnt last long, dont see it in demand. ax it.
(Its too much like a dodge hummer!! another reason.)
"smarten up" the Jeep line. Keep Patriot, Unsure of the compass so far as sales.(they both share platform w/ Dodge Caliber)
Commander ax it. Big waste of fuel. unless dieseled with say, the new 4.2L CTD V-6 or my Idea, a reborn slant 225 6cyl gas--low end torque.
Get the Wrangler P/U out there, they are slowly ruining the Dakota origional intent. Fill the gap.
then=Compress the truck line=Dakota--is now the 1/2 ton tuck (still the ram 1500 renamed)
1-ton is the Ram, and the 1-1/2 ton Longhorn (name of 70's Dodge Semi Tractor.)
Make Dodge caravan the Affordable basic Mini Van--no frills, and the Chrysler Town-n-Country the fancy.
We Got the CHALLENGER!! kill the Charger name badging, adjust body of car and rename it the Polara--make it a fleet status car.(police, cabs, etc) Available with slant six or HEMI police package with an even better suspension. maybe a diesel or Diesel Hybrid also.
Use those 2 powerplants plus a possible diesel or Diesel hybrid into the 300.
Durango's?? Aspen's?? leave the Aspen Fancy, Boxy up the durango like the new dakota look, make it a "ram charger" like rugged beast, or Ax them both!!
Continue the Current trend with the Cleaner Mechanics they are designing.

I agree with most of that. I'm a fleet manager and bought a Commander for users in Colorado - and it fits the bill. Users in North Carolina love the Caliber.

Never drove the Nitro. I have a 2005 Magnum SXT Special Edition. Even in 2006, the 05 Special Edition was rare to get hold of. So I have the 1st year of the re-make of the Magnum badge AND the Special Edition. Subsequesnt changes to the magnum ('07 and '08, specifically) don't appeal to me. So I will keep my mag --- it's rare and will be popular. Dodge dropped it. So be it. ILOVE my car, though.

I like both models. I wonder how long the challenger will last? I just wish Chrysler would get on the ball, and start developing small cars that get good gas mileage. Bring back the neon.

It really depends on what you mean by good gas mileage. For a car as big as the Magnum, I've reached 29mph on the hwy. The smaller the car, the better the mileage.

The Neon is known, in the industry, as a 'disposable car'. The avenger is a noce place for you to start.

There's always a new K-car!!!
I'll probably be shot for that one!!
oh well. But it worked. Ugly, boxy, ROOMY, and they got around well, you still see the occasional one popping up today, even with our salt and calcium blasted winter roads. and got good gas mileage. I've even heard up to 36 MPG in those buggers.

And Tough, Holy Crap, Ever see a K-car in a demo Derby. There like a rabid chihuahua. I seen them win a good many 4-cyl championships, I even saw one Take the whole show one night. the Final three was him, a 66 chevelle with a 250-6cly (I wanted to kill that guy, for using the Chevelle, but it actually was wrecked) and a 72 Ford Country Squire Wagon. Yeah, You heard me, The K-Car won!!
