Pacifica and Crossfire were slow selling and overpriced, but I didnt think Magnum was doing that bad. I saw lots of them in Europe, I guess production costs may have been an issue, although I dont care much for the 08 Magnum with the Pontiac Torrent headlights! I think PT should be totally discontinued, its mostly fleet sales, the hype is over on that model, its been over for atleast a few years now!

The magnum would have done better if Chrysler had bothered to put same engine in it they did in europe. Cutting cars and laying off people is not going to turn bad management into good management.

Jim Press at work already! The man is showing results. Soon they'll chop the Chrysler Aspen, Jeep Liberty, and Jeep Compass.

Bad management is being shown the door. Cerebus will not deal with bad/poor management, those days are over. This is one of the reasons I see big change in the near future.

I hope you are right. I would love to see chrysler start making cars people want to buy. Interesting, though, I have not heard anything about chrysler putting a small diesel into the dodge ram 1500.

Here is a little more info on some of the changes for the Ram and others:

What we know (we think for certain): the Ram 1500 will finally get a new, smaller Cummins turbodiesel, built to the same high standards as past engines; and the 2500 and 3500 will have a cleaner engine using technology Mercedes bought a while back. A hybrid powertrain, using the GM-BMW-DCX system, is certain as well; it will provide a small additional gas mileage boost. Chrysler has told us that the Hemi engine will be revised so it gets better gas mileage and more power, with better driveability; it’s quite possible that they’ve finally added variable valve timing (through variable cam timing, which oh20 says is now the case), and are going to try to make it more powerful than the same-size Toyota engine, which makes 381 horsepower. What’s more, what might be the world’s best mass-produced transmission may well show up in the Ram around 2009 - a manual transmission with automatic shifting and dual clutches. We don’t know if that’s going to appear first in the Ram, but the timing is about right.(It should also go into minivans - there are two versions being engineered.) http://www.allpar.com/model/ram/2009-ram.html

THANKS! A lot of good info there! and 20 to 25 mpg is pretty good for a full size truck. I think a V6 diesel would be a winner. I also like the idea of improved aerodynamics. There's no reason trucks have to be boxes. And a shifting manual? Thats interesting. I am also glad to hear they will start using 6 speed transmissions. And if you put a small diesl in the sebring, it'd be getting in the 30's! Same as the dodge magnum!

And there was a real good article on the allpar website on the automatic manuals. If chrysler is going to produce 700000 automatic 6 speed manuals, you'll see it virtually everything! It will force everybody else to do the same.

Thank you.

I really believe Chrysler is going places. It has always been known as the underdog, and that really isn’t a bad thing. Just to be fair, I also have a fair amount of respect for Chrysler. Of course they have made many goofy decisions, however so has GM and Ford. Anyhow, I guess we just have to sit back and observe. People have a tendency to kick Chrysler to the curb; however they are the same individuals whom forget that Chrysler is the company that pioneered many of the options we see on vehicles today.

FYI - The Cummins B-Block (ISB) engine that currently displaces 6.7L is already approved for 2010 emissions requirements so you'll see that technology stick around until at least 2012 or 2013. I don't suspect the Mercedes Bluetec technology will make it to the heavy duty truck market since those engines are designed for different uses than the passenger car Bluetecs. Chrysler is "right-sizing" itself at the moment and will continue to reduce nameplates and production shifts to match the current North American vehicle market.
