Toyota didn't fall, they posted an incremental gain. Sure, GM posted numbers higher than last October which is a fact. Let's see if they can continue the momentum. GM hosted "Truck Month" with massive incentives to buy the sales. If they make it "Truck Year" then maybe they'll sustain. If the lose money then who cares, they'll borrow from their escrow account.

Well the biggest winners weren't American automakers. They were Japanese and Korean. Still don't know how Honda "sunk the ship". Obviously the leader of this thread is smoking something because again he shows that he is clueless in reading the numbers with his gross over exaggerations.

Hmmm sounds like spin to me.

Lacrosse “best month ever” up 103% yoy
Maliboo up 84%(that’s retail)
On and on and on
Camaro performing beautifully - did you figure out the difference between a Camaro and a Corvette yet?

On another note things don’t look so good for the foreigners:

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A.,
Inc., today reported October sales of 152,165 vehicles, a decrease of 3.5
percent from last October, on a daily selling rate basis.

The Toyota Division posted October sales of 132,663 units, a decrease of 5.8
percent from the same period last year. The Lexus Division reported October
sales of 19,502 units, an increase of 15.5 percent over the year-ago month.

Toyota Division
Toyota Division passenger cars recorded sales of 85,169 units, a decrease of

Now that's sinking the ship, but you forgot to relay that little fact. How convenient.

I find Chrysler irrelevant in the conversation as it should be liquidated. Sad but true.

Wow look at those numbers! Who would imagine that after BR and shuttered plants that GM wuld still be on top and increase. Amazing- I still wish GM would step back a tad and sloowwww productin. At any rate good show.

Can someone factor in the fleet dumping at Toyota into the numbers?

October Facts:

•Total GM sales increased 4 percent compared with October, 2008; retail sales were up 15 percent for the same period.
•Year-over-year total sales increase is the first since January, 2008.
•GM gains market share for the third straight month – estimated at 21 percent of the total light vehicle market.
•Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac retail sales represented 95 percent of October retail sales vs. 85 percent in October, 2008.
•Combined Buick / GMC retail sales were up 33 percent compared with last year, driving Buick-Pontiac-GMC retail sales up 12 percent

Yeah, no kidding. Who'd a thunk that after wasting $30 billion dollars of taxpayers money and losing $100 billion dollars over the last 4 years that they'd still be #1 in the U.S. Gotta give GM kudos on their ability to lobby and bamboozle the American gov't and the American taxpayer.

Now, let’s take this a step further and discuss what might be happening. Is it possible that Americans have taken a long hard look at the economical crisis and put the pieces together? Did we figure out that Americans’ own jobs are made stronger by supporting American jobs?

I'm just glad to see the automotive market starting to show a comeback. Regardless of who is making or selling the cars, it is good for our economy, and people should enjoy new vehicles. It's a page out of the book of Americana to have a shiny new vehicle parked out in the driveway, with all the neighbors gawking at it.
