In terms of raw performance, the MS3 wrecked the GTI. At that price point, the numbers game sells cars.

I took the Mazda 3 for a spin a month ago and liked it a lot. You really can't beat that car for the price it's going for.

It is a solid car with solid performance, and nothing near its price point can compete, thus the success it is enjoying. A VW GTI? Haven't seen a new one of those in a long time.
