The original point still is that DETROIT cannot design a decent car. If DETROIT wants to compete with the Japanese, they can only do it with German engineering.
Oh man let me get this straight .>sigh<..die of laughter at your failed attempts and lackluster abilities to degrade everything American. Masses now see your attempted statist liberal propaganda schemes puked up by the simple fact that you had no idea that Americans were designing Toyota vehicles in the USA. Sadly you come back with the fierce response “Detroit cannot design a decent car,” priceless. I suppose now you will try to argue its Detroit against other American cities. Face it you are washed up. Now for the KO, Toota’s other designs are coming out of Michigan. Not to mention GM continues to outsell the Japanese daily in this country.

Ford builds good & fun cars in the U.K.. GM builds decent cars in Europe and in Ausie. So that shows that these companies can do it, as long as they have European brain behind the effort.

The Japanese can build good cars in the U.S. The Germans can do the same. That shows that American workers can be whipped up into shape, with proper trainind and no unions in sight. Put European or Asian leadership in place and things work.

It just so happens that unionized lazy American workforce, under American management at Chrysler, Ford and GM, is a recipe for disaster. So, it is obvious that, when Detroit needs to come up to the level of Japanese engineering, it is only with German technology. Brilliant.

Rubbish – America is Japan, it is German, it is “European.” America comprises everybody in the world. You’re living in a long and forgotten mindset trying to pit one country against the other. Move forward and come out of the 1940’s you sound like a world war cheerleader.

Bull. An Opel design is an Opel design, no matter how many American badges you put on it. Just like with beer. Anheuser and Busch were Germans, started a brewery in the States, which now is producing pi$$water. Is it German beer? Absolutely not, because no self-respected German would drink that that swill. German beer is German beer, and German cars are German cars. And American beer sucks as much as American cars do...:)

Yet they continue to make more money than German beers do, just another example of German engineering falling to the knee of westernization. You simply can't fight America and win. Attempting such is nothing more than attempting to fight the world.

America does not need to be fought, it is falling apart all by itself.

Bud pi$$water only makes money because the stuff is cheap. Rednecks and college frats will drink it because it is cheap buzz. But to call it "beer" is an insult to beer, my friend. It is like hanging Bart Simpson next to Mona LIsa and calling it art.

The largest share (by far) of the North American beer industry is owned buy a German company called Interbrau.
The best tasting beer in the world according to 'experts' is English beer, hands down.
European beers aren't bad either.
North American beer tends toward the bland side, and is considered that way by the rest of the world.
It's the taste apparently Americans have historically preferred, but more and more they are moving toward more European style brews.
My philosophy on beer, wine and spirits is quite simple "If it tastes good, don't ask why".

Ok since we have gone to alcoholic beverages of choice, I prefer Labatt Blue (Canada) for my brew, and Jordan Cab (California) for my wine. Although wine has so many offerings worldwide, Jordan is one of my favorites with Ehlers falling right behind that. I’m a cab guy.

Buick's current ads are more like Hyundai's - Value / price leader and "me too" copycatting.
Noone who wants a Lexus is going to buy a Buick. But people who buy the Buick are going to pretend "it's just like a Lexus"
Assuming this is the brand strategy for the next few years, what is the Regal going to copycat? It certainly won't be a hottie like the old GS series. You need to buy a CTS for that kind of performance.
I just don't see Buick ever attaining the volume of the glory days. It (and GMC) will be the next line to be dropped 3 years from now when GM goes into its next big crisis. They'll keep the badge in China, but the line will dwindle to nothing in the US.
I can't argue your points. The Buick brand is dead in the U.S. with no acceptance by younger buyers. It will live on in China only.

I've seen two on the road over the past week. The rear may look just like a Lexus, but from the front, that ugly Buick grill, grafted onto the sleek Opel lines is almost comical. The "portholes" on the hood look ridiculous.

The Saturn version would have been far classier and understated, this Buick looks like a Bozo car to me.

I really like the new Lacrosse. It’s gaining with younger crowds and the vehicle sports that sexy yet distinguished look. Evidently the masses are beginning to turn on to this car as sales we’re up in October 103% over last year. Best part of all, the Lacrosse won’t go out of control like the competing Lexus model and it’s much more affordable.

Thanks for the eye-witness review. Looks like Buick has a clown car on their hands?

The other post was not intended for you, it was for another thread and it was directed at the canuck. Although I know you don’t like Buick, I think it’s kind of silly to call it a clown car.

He said the car looked "like a Bozo car" thus my comment. Who knows, perhaps circus clowns will buy it.

Daily Horoscope for December 30

Libra

If you're invited to a party or gathering today and you don't know whether to go, you should. You'll have a terrific time and you might meet someone who always makes your knees go weak. Even if it's a perfectly harmless flirtation and you're both happily committed to other people, it will still do your ego good to have a tantalizing conversation with this person.
