The diesel engine is way too large. In this market, Ford would have been better off going with 4 cylinder 2 liter diesel. It would still have the torque of a V6 gasoline powered, but would have increased the mpg of the F-150. Ford dropped the ball here. And a 4 cylinder diesel you could have put in the Ford Ranger, focus, taurus and fusion. And just WHY is the rear end ratio in the Ford Ranger a 4.10? You'd think in this era where everyone is concerned about mpg, it'd be a more reasonable 3.5.

Tom. These are work trucks not toy trucks. The 4.4 is just right. Ford has announced today that they are bringing 6 euro models to the US by 2012. I am wondering if the diesel is going to be included in some of the models. Ford posted the worst quarter in history, so they better get these cars here quick.

True. But Ford already has a 6.7 litre diesel for those wanting real pulling power. and my guess is none of the euro diesels will make it over here. Though why a company who just lost almost 9 billion dollars doesn't want to sell diesel cars over here is anyone's guess. The accord is going diesel next year. Just HOW is ford planning on selling cars if they don't have some diesel car models?
