Paine exhibit set to make 'impression' Saturday
“They were painted very quickly, didn't have a high level of finish like previous art works that were historical or religious in subjects.”
They were scorned for painting outside metaphorical lines. For shunning a more finished style for spontaneously fresh impressions of modern-day living. via Oshkosh Northwestern
