The private collection of a Hollywood mover and shaker promotes emergent talent
A new exhibit drawn from the world-famous collection of Hollywood mogul Michael Ovitz and his wife, Judy, is not the showy cattle call of art stars you might expect.
Installed at H&R Block Artspace, the works in 'Past, Present, Future Perfect' are compelling, but they're not all huge, and they're not all by famous artists.
After the Ovitz family gave Artspace director Raechell Smith the green light to borrow from their collection, she decided to focus on recent acquisitions by emerging and established artists, assembling a global group whose works frequently allude to art history. Read more

If You Go: One-woman show sprang from a painting

Janet Scott's play, The Love Letter, is a one-woman show, but it's hardly a solitary production.
The director has come from Australia. The music was composed there, as well. The costume was built in Virginia. The set is being designed by Gay Reading of Green Tree Tea Room and Antiques with items from L.V. Harkness and Co. and Belle Maison Antiques.
And the production, playing Thursday through Saturday at the Central Library theater, is being mounted by two Lexington organizations: the Kentucky Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters and the Young Professionals Group of the Lexington Public Library. Read more
