Believe it or not there are people out there that are perfectly sane, but just don't care about human life and don't see what they've done as wrong or just don't care. This guy knew exactly what he was doing. He just thought his devil made me do it" defense would get him out of doing actual jail time. By your logic a man who beats his wife and kills her for not making his dinner is an insane individual. In this case a snow-board.....and betrayal of a friend...

Too bad we don't have a death penalty that would kill you the way you killed your victim. In Texas there was a killer who was put to sleep for killing his victim by putting a shotgun inside her and pulling the trigger.(The barrel wasn't in her mouth.) He should have had a gun barrel up his ass and he would have felt every bit of pain his victim felt before she died.

Now that this inmate committed "Hari-Hari" in a State institution, there will be very close scrutinizing and investigation. Whenever an person enters the MDC, there is a process of mental and physical assessment as well as an assessment of affiliation with a gang or have a violent history. He apparently was seen by one of the psychiatric nurses and cleared for general population. Normally, Since he was considered high-profile inmate, he would be classified as a high-risk for suicide. There would of been at least a 24 hour/every 15 minute check done on his cell. No sheets, no blankets or any other items that could be used to end one's life is allowed. According to reports, a sheet was used as a noose to hang himself. The MDC put him in segregation to protect him from other inmates that were aware of his charges. The news reports stated that he was discovered hanging in his cell at 2045. Where was the Co? Why was he not observed closely and monitored? Someone was either sleeping on the job or just did not care about the welfare of the POD in general.....another MDC blunder....
