Did you get the dates mixed up?

My cousin, Yvonne Blankenship DeHart said, "I'm almost positive that this photo is of the 1957 flood. I don't believe the Texaco Gas Station was there in 1977, there was a gas there maybe, just not a Texaco. The original photo belongs to Robert McCoy of Matewan, WV, he let them use this photo for a booklet they did for Matewan about 10 yrs ago."

I never been to Matewan but I am sure it was the 1977 flood as that same flood impacted us in McDowell County. That was the official Texaco logo from 1966-83, when the current Texaco logo was introduced. This flood may have killed that business

It was th 77 flood the napa (coal city parts) parts store was right across the street and look at the street lights they would not have had those kind of street light up in 1957,
