Controversial movie opens to sell out audiences as
“SEX AND THE CITY 2 “ premiers in Waterford IRELAND

SEX AND THE CITY 2 premiered to sell out audiences at the Storm Cinema Waterford IRELAND this week.

Among attendees at the opening run was EU Parliamentary adviser and Autism expert Dr.Caroline Ward-Goldsmith sporting an outfit inspired by the New York foursome.

The film, which is the second spin off from the US smash hit series, explores relationship issues regarding Marriage, Motherhood, Commitment, Singledom and the hot topical issue of how Islam and Muslims are perceived from a western feminist point of view.

The makers were banned from filming scenes in Abu Dhabi which portray Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte on a PR trip for Samantha’s firm. Those scenes had to be filmed in Tunisia, and the finished film was banned from showing in Abu Dhabi completely.

Dr Ward- Goldsmith who is also a writer on Islamic theology said

“ I do not think that the film is in any
way offensive to Muslims and gives a good understanding of how both sides perceive each other.

Attitudes are changing and becoming more liberal all over the Middle-East regarding hard line practices especially in the younger generations. This film is a step forward and opens the door for dialogue and communication.”

Highlights include a stunning performance of ‘Single Ladies’ by a 64 year old Liza Minnelli who is still rocking it out to the max and is an inspiration. She looked amazing even in close up.

The four characters have equal appeal to men and women it seems, as a surprising number of single men were attending alone, likely not to tell their friends they had been!

Dr Ward- Goldsmith took along her own teenage son who thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
