While my mother in law were taking our morning walk around the property. We had noticed that our dogs neck had a large cut on it, we thought she had just met up with a raccoon. We walked to the wooded part of the property where the dogs were also sniffing around. I just happen to look up (which is something I normaly do not do) and that is when we both saw this male cougar about 10-20 feet up in the tree. We now know how the dog got cut, we called the game warden who had come to the house to determine whether this was a threatning situation. He determinded it was, The factors are that it had attacked my dog, I have small children, and we are next to a very busy gas station, and that this cougar was still up in the tree after it had been found 2 1/2 hours earlier. I feel this is something that needs to be shared and people should be aware of the cougars that are in our mountain area's.
