Bridgeport, CT - last august I started this thing.... it was supposed to take 40 hours. It was more like 200 hours! Oh well I learned a lot. It works great- lots of fun to use.

It is very tippy, even more than other sea kayaks I have tried, and its very fast. So I have to learn how to roll it and how to 'self-rescue', neither of which is very easy.
For self-rescuing, you inflate an airbag on the end of your paddle and use it to help you climb in to the cockpit. I've seen it on YouTube but I think in practice its very difficult.
I ventured out in chop the other day and realized that in chop the thing is likely going to capsize. On rivers it is wonderful though. I'm going to pack a tent and food and wander for several days on the Connecticut River.

Thanks BPT, actually the finish is not as good as it looks in a photo. To make it 'perfect' you have to sand the entire kayak between 5 to 7 coats. I would never have finished. Also I'd be too worried to use the thing.
Yes I will be careful- the real hazard is capsizing far from shore in cold water. That situation can easily turn fatal. Ever been in really cold water? It's hard to move, let alone do anything useful. Maybe I will buy a drysuit at some point.
@non-hostile Jackalope: yeah, LOL I though of that... what's another word for Tippy then? Maybe 'Tipsy'.
