While very sad, there is nothing "freak" about this accident. Two women crossed a busy six-lane road against a traffic light and now they are dead. The amount of jaywalking in Manhattan is staggering - the only freak aspect is that more people don't get hit and killed every day. When will people learn to obey traffic signals and pay attention?

No, one tv news report said the first cab ran a red light and the impact put them in the path of a second cab. But beyond that, Annie Sullivan was a graduate of Fordham, had been in the Peace Corps, and was working for Nasdaq in public relations. She was tall, blonde, beautiful inside and out (and unaware of that), and planned to work in a career in philanthrophy. She leaves a devastated family: parents and her sister Casey as well as extended family. She was only 26. Please think of those of us who loved these girls before you post cavalier remarks. I knew Annie from the day she was born, and she was one of the dearest and most caring people I've ever known. I don't know how a family recovers from something like this.

The first line should say, "I'm not surprised people are getting killed by cabs in Manhattan."

I am so saddened by Annie's death. She was a geniune loving person. It's so hard to believe. I feel so bad for her mother who has been in the Peace corps away from her two daughters doing good work for others. It's not fair.

I was so fortunate to know Ann and serve with her as a Peace Corps volunteer in Bangladesh. She was such genuine, caring, smart, end exceptional person. This is such a great loss for her family, friends, and community. I feel blessed by every moment I was able to spend with her... and send all my love to her family during this time.

This story really touched me this weekend. Although I don't either one of these ladies, I was very saddened to hear of their tragedy. I happen to live three streets away at 1st and 10th. I cross this intersection every day, and I will say that it is very busy and dangerous at any time of day. This story just reminded me of how precious and fragile our lives are. And that everyday when we leave our homes, be it for a evening out, or to run some errands, we never know what destiny God has in store for us. My thoughts and prayers are with both familes.

This is hard to write about, but i was at the scene of the accident when it happened. I was with two friends walking down 14th st. at the time.
I would like anyone out there who knew either of these two women to know that they did not die alone. I was with Stephanie when she passed away. My friends were with Anne. Please know that i do not believe either of them were in pain, as some news outlets have suggested according to certain "witness accounts".
If anyone knows how to contact either of their families i would greatly appreciate it if you could pass on that information to me.
If what i have to say can bring them any peace at all i would like to be able to do that very much.

I knew Ann and worked with her at Nasdaq. I would like to say that Ann was one of the brightest, sweetest, kindest most genuine people I have ever met in my life. I liked her immensely and I will miss her terribly. Ann was one of those people that when you spoke to her, you knew she was really listening and she cared about people, her co-workers, her friends and family. She had an amazing and beautiful spirit and it showed in every moment you spent with her. I can't say enough about her, she was one of my favorite people at Nasdaq and I wish I could have spent more time with her. My heart goes out to her family, I will pray for you during this difficult time, and please know that she was loved by so many of us at work.

This is God's way of getting revenge for taking Him out of everything. The end is near. When Obama is elected President there will be door-to-door Muslims all over the country invading people's homes, taking up guns, and ruling the United States. Look around, all of the Muslim doctors, lawyers, restaurant owners, convenient store owners, motel owners and general business owners have been put in place for this time in history. Even Obama himself was placed here when he was a child to grow up and run for the highest office in the U.S. Just look at the money being spent on Obama's campaign, 24hours a day on a Dish Network channel. Where is this money coming from????Take a guess!! Only (1) letter separates Obama from Osama!!! Wake up!!!BEFORE it is too late!!! Vote Mcain President.

I met Ann thru working at NASDAQ and saw her everyday. In fact, I rode the elevator with her Friday afternoon and chatted about some inde music and concerts and general weekend plans. I never ever thought that would be the last time i saw her. I was absolutely floored when i found out what happened on Sunday night. My condelences to the entire Sullivan family and anyone who knew Ann. Rest in Peace Ann.

Makes me ill to see the posting that ANGEL has written. How dare you use the loss of these two lives to promote your political views. Have a touch of sympathy before you go spitting out your 'theories.' It's truly a sad accident.

I have known Ann for a few years. She was a radiant, funny, smart generous human being. She was my friend's roommate when she first moved into the city and I had many a night w her eating tasty d-lite and watching inane reality TV. I loved this girl. She was so super sweet and lovely and would do anything for anyone else. This is a tragedy and my heart aches for her family and her other friends. i really cant believe this....

I met Ann while she was serving Peace Corps in Bangladesh. The fact that she is no more is just unbelievable! I cannot think of anyone else as warmhearted as she was. I don't think I will ever meet anyone as perfect as Ann.
And to Peter, thanks.

Thanks to Peter and his friends who helped Ann and her friend in their last moments on this earth. I am certain her mother greatly appreciates your assistance. Ann and her sister embody the love of life and people that their mother lives by. I have known Ann since she was a baby and both she and her sister were special from the very start.
