Lufthansa Averts Strike as Negotiations With Pilots Resume

Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Europe's second-biggest airline, averted a walkout by its pilots at the last minute after submitting a fresh set of proposals that seek to bring both parties back to the negotiation table. The Vereinigung Cockpit union canceled a planned strike today on long-haul routes after Lufthansa said it had submitted its proposal again yesterday.

Passenger films flames shooting out of plane engine

Seats over the wing of an aeroplane are said to be the safest, but what if the engine is shooting flames? A passenger on board this flight from Spain heading towards Russia said shortly after takeoff the engine emitted a loud bang, then she noticed flames bursting from the plane's wing. She said the Transaero Boeing 767 began to shake immediately, and was forced to turn around and make an emergency landing at Barcelona Airport.

Boeing to open new Operations Center in Seal Beach

The facility will be dedicated to providing customer service for airlines by corralling the customer support resources for its Commercial Aviation Services under one roof. By the end of 2015, the new center will provide support for the next generation of 737, 747, 767 and 777 planes, as well as support for out-of-production airplane models.

Last Air NZ Boeing 747-400 flies into history

Air New Zealand's last Boeing 747-400 affectionately referred to by pilots as "Daddy's yacht" completed its final flight in teal livery today, as the airline ushers in a new generation of long-haul aircraft.
