On This Day in Aviation History

1942 - Twelve Avro Lancaster bombers - six each from No. 44 Squadron and No. 97 Squadron - carry out the longest low-level penetration in World War II to date and the first daylight raid by the Lancaster in an attack on a submarine diesel engine factory at Augsburg, Germany.

Lancasters to Fly Together in the UK

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton, Ontario, is preparing to send its prized Avro Lancaster across the Atlantic to take part in a monthlong program with the Battle of Britain Memorial Lancaster.
