Firefly Launches New Penang-Krabi Route

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 -- Premium short-haul airline Firefly today launched its first flight to Krabi in southern Thailand from Penang International Airport. Its Chief Executive Officer Ignatius Ong said in a statement the airline will operate three times weekly to and from Penang/Krabi using its 72-seater, single-class ATR 72-600 turboprop.

Cebu Pacific cancels Manila-Tacloban flights for September

This after the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines announced that operations of the Daniel Romualdez Airport will be limited to Bombardier Dash 8, ATR 72-500 or lower category aircraft operations from September 4 to December 3, 2014.

Airlines claim some airports charging for landing small planes

Botswana RJ85 near Gaborone on Aug 26th 2014, engine shut down in flight

An Air Botswana Avro RJ-85, flight BP-209 from Gaborone to Johannesburg with 25 passengers, was about 25 minutes into the flight when sparks were observed from one of the engines prompting the crew to shut the engine down and return to Gaborone for a safe landing.
