Tavis, you are the last person I would have thought to make such a comment but its all about one brother not supporting the other and that is why we are still struggling. Tavis need to wake up and smell the coffee. I am sure Obama has never asked for special treatment. Here you have the chance to support an intelligent fellow American and you failed. I will never ever watch your show again! Shame on you!.

Tavis is an egomaniac and his criticism of Obama is overshadowed by that fact. Neither obama nor mccain should get a pass on "black issues". Tavis simply hates obama because he is bitter about him snubbing "the state of black america" event. its as dimple and as complex as that.

Tavis Smiley is a well respected, educated black commentator and journalist. He say's and writes what's on his mind. That sometimes takes more courage than the norm. Because people don't agree with him doesn't make him any less compassionate about what he writes or comments about. His history with the Black American plight tells of his own ordeals in America, Tavis Smiley is one to be respected and viewd as being fair.

I have a question for African American voters. Should you support a candidate unconditionally just because of the color of his skin, or do issues count? What if an African-American candidate is in favor of a great deal of legislation that supports white issues?(And I'm not saying Obama is like that). Would you still vote for that candidate? Do you think Tavis Smiley might not like Obama's stand on some issues, and that is why he is cautioning people to vote for issues, not for skin color? Just some fair questions, not pointing fingers.

Tavis Smiley is annoying, just like Bill O'Reilly. Just another blowhard dying of jealousy. That said, maybe, just maybe, if Obama wins (and I will vote for him) black folks will see that all that power and glory that 232 years of white men have been getting doesn't really trickle down to the rest of the race. Then perhaps we can all get together and make some changes.

NAME WOULD NOT EVEN BEEN KNOWN 1264 I don't know about how he's be classified in Africa (which is strange that an African would protest his being called "Black") but in the United States, he's historically black. Sorry if it offends your senses..

Senator Obama, though he is African in America, policies are just as cruel as President Bush. I am voting for Senator Obama but Travis Smiley is challenging us to evaluate his platform. The reason I am voting for Senator Obama is because the alternative is Senator McCain and perhaps, war with Iran. With Senator Obama, perhaps, war is averted and more attention is focused on domestic issues. Senator Obama is a politican and have any African in America politican truly advocated for the people - our people? I can think of Mayor Washington but can you name another - and we all know what happened to the mayor? Therefore, the harsh truth is Senator Obama presidency is more beneficial to Caucasian Americans - they are just too hateful to recognize. Tavis Smily - thank you.

Whether Obama is black or purple is irrelevant. Condy Rice is "black" and she's a soulless fascist. Vote on the ISSUES please!

"There is no such thing in America as race transcendence, and Obama's going to find that out real soon" He's right. Just wait until the general election campaign gets in gear. The republicans are going to tear Obama up. And if that "whitey" video tape appears in October, he's finished. Compared to McCain and the republican machine Obama is a light weight. He has no idea what he is in for. What's he going to do at the debates when he runs out of ways to use the word "change" in a sentence, start tap dancing and singing "Mr. Bo Jangles"? This is going to be funny as hell watching Obama crash and burn. And after the republicans spit him out Obama can go back to his all black, crime infested destrict to become the next washed up Marion (that bitch set me up) Barry.

You mean even "MORE" free handouts to blacks as if affirmative action for the last 40 years wasn't enough. Obama isn't qualified to run the United States... Idiot!

Blacks don't support each other; we tear each other down and get jealous if someone is more successful than us. We murder, rob and disrespect each other regularly and I am not even going to mention how we treat our women.

Getting caught by the Cong isn't exactly a qualifier for the Presidency, twitfcuk. While I appreciate and honor his service, it DOES NOT qualify him to be President. Some of our most mediocre Presidents were Heroes: William Henry Harrison (too stupid to wear a coat in an icy rain storm) Benjamin Harrison Stupid is genetic US Grant Out of his depth Andrew Johnson (impeachment procedings held) John Tyler (died a Confederate traitor) You have any young men you'd like to keep sane, alive and in one piece? Obama is your vote.
