Black Activists Call 'State of Emergency Summit'

A diverse array of organizations and individuals attended a conference at Cleveland State University Feb. 1 and 2 to discuss the urgent problems facing the Black community in Cleveland and other cities. The conference was called by the Cleveland Link of the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense and co-sponsored by Black Lawyers for Justice and Cleveland State University Black Studies Program.

The program opened with a stirring rendition of the Black national anthem “Lift Every Voice and Sing” in four-part harmony. That was followed by youth performances from Marian Sterling Elementary School Drill Team and a pledge of allegiance to the red, black and green flag and drumming by the youth group, the Golden Ciphers.

Lift Every Voice and Sing

Lift ev'ry voice and sing,
Till earth and heaven ring.
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise,
High as the list'ning skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on till victory is won.

Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chast'ning rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat,
Have not our weary feet,
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past,
Till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by Thy might,
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee,
Shadowed beneath thy hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our God,
True to our native land.

I love this song!

You don't tell us where to go, we will be where we choose to be and that really is one your problems with African-Americans.

Any one of these ridiculous black "muslims" would be beheaded in a real islamic sewer like Iran. You animals support murderers. But Let's face it: Cats and dogs were domesticated somewhere around 5,000 to 10,000 years ago. Blacks were first domesticated about 500 years ago. They are literally just a couple of generations from being totally wild; it is like trying to make a pet out of a hyena cub.

When Muhammid Ali returned from the Rumble in da Jungle in Zaire a reporter asked him how he liked Africa. Ali said "Thank god my great grand daddy got on that boat".

Oh my god, this would be sad if a were not so funny.

They just keep rolling along blaming others for their failures.

TIP. Stop having welfare babies and get your teenagers to put down the violence and pick up a book and realize that education is the best weapon for success in a corporate society.

OH dear lord, 1blkbaltimorefem are talking about racist. Never in my life have I been. Pink,hmmmm, sounds a little discriminatory to me. I am looking at my arms and hands and nowhere do I see pink. Remember the phrase "throwing stones". I think it is time that we all stand together as Americans. Lets give up the term "African-American, I am first generation born here, still don't want to be called European-American. I am American.

What most black folks don't realize is that if they were still in Africa they would most likely be either dead from Aids, facing Starvation, at War with other African Blacks, or Slaves. Regardless of how they think Whitey treats them, it is still a 1000 times better than their lives would be still in Africa.

Why does it matter to you what we want to call ourselves? We govern us, not you nor your people, so to concern yourself about us is futile. Giving up the African term makes you people feel safer and more comfortable because you feel we are even one more step closer to your brand of socialization. We are proud African's, dear, period.

Happy to see that taxpayer money went to such good use.

I'm sure there would be no problem to allow White activists to gather for an emergency summit...
so that things are fair.

Oh.. that's right. That's called racism.

If I were an alumni, I would never contribute another cent to CSU and urge other alumi to think wisely as to where their money is going and to who CSU is supporting by way of welcoming that nonsense at an institution of higher learning.

Money talks.

Maybe CSU next time can welcome a dictator to their university just like that esteemed Columbia U did and provide an open forum to speak.

Last I checked the colors are RED WHITE and BLUE.

You don't like it... leave.

Those who sacrificed with their blood for this country didn't bleed Red Black and Green.

Learn the difference.

Trust me, America is tiring and it's patience is shortening.

Wisen up.

"On the topic of the prison industrial complex, Ms. Hasan pointed out that prisons are a $35 billion, money-making business. As raw material for this business, she said,“Black men are being manufactured and processed.” She compared the prison system to the drug companies “which treat you without really curing you, otherwise they would go bankrupt.” So prison is not about rehabilitation.“The prison-industrial complex is not going to change if Obama is elected,” she stated".

Beautiful.
